About Royal Museums Greenwich
Royal Museums Greenwich is proud to offer a stunning collection of venues available for hosting memorable weddings. All our venues are located at the heart of the celebrated and beautiful UNESCO Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. Weddings are a unique and romantic experience, each with their own distinctive personality and we have a range of venues that can reflect your own personal style and deliver a day special to you. Whether you are looking for a venue to simply hold the ceremony, reception or the evening party, or all three, Royal Museums Greenwich has it covered with a choice of five iconic and historic venues which include:
Licenced for ceremonies and receptions:
Cutty Sark
Cutty Sark is one of the world’s most famous ships, the last surviving tea clipper and the fastest and greatest of her time. In admiration of her beauty and in recognition of her fame she has been preserved for the nation and is now available as an unforgettable location for your wedding. Cutty Sark is the only place in the world where you can entertain beneath the gleaming hull of a ship. The Tween deck and Dry berth are both licenced for ceremonies so can provide a flexible and memorable backdrop to licenced ceremonies as well as evening receptions.
The Queen’s House
Built in the 17th century and steeped in history and Palladian romance, the Queen’s House is a perfect wedding venue licenced for civil ceremonies and receptions. Designed by Inigo Jones for Queen Anne, wife of James I for hosting sumptuous parties, it was the first wholly Classical building of its kind in England. This former royal palace offers a variety of flexible spaces for you to create your perfect wedding. Bathed in southern light and Palladian Romance the Orangery and South Parlours are ideal for intimate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts up to 50 guests, where the Great Hall on the house’s north side provides views over the river and its original black and white marble floor provides a striking backdrop to ceremonies and dinners up to 120 guests.
Available for receptions only:
The Peter Harrison Planetarium
Set atop the hill within the leafy Royal Greenwich Park, the Peter Harrison Planetarium is a modern, versatile venue with contemporary lines and abundant light. Guests are treated to a Planetarium show with each event booking. There are two courtyard areas where guests can enjoy warm summer evenings and are ideal for photography, while the Astronomy galleries provide a captivating indoor area for pre-dinner drinks. After being led through the secrets of the universe during a private planetarium show your guests can dance the night way under the stars in the adjacent Glass foyer.
