Hen and Stag dos, or even today, Sten dos, are the traditional parties thrown for the bride and groom before their wedding. Hen and Stag events used to be held the night before the wedding, but this is almost unheard of now, and parties might take place a month or more before the big day. The chief bridesmaid and the best man usually organise the hen & stag nights respectively and these might take place over a weekend rather than a single night, but the preferences of bride and groom should always be consulted – despite what Hollywood portrays, wild nights where people end up way outside their comfort zones are not a requirement!

It is common for the hen and stag events to take place at the same time, which prevents bride and groom from checking up on each other, if nothing else! And increasingly,

are combined in a ‘Sten’, an event for both bride and bridesmaids and groom and groomsmen to attend together.

Hen Party Ideas

Popular ideas include outdoor activities, a Spa stay, horse riding or weekend by the sea. Whatever you do, as long as you have your best friends with you then any event will be sure to create some lasting memories of your time together and your last days of being single. Plus some really great photos!
