Traditional and Modern Wedding Cakes

A wedding cake is traditional, and it’s often the centrepiece of the wedding reception whether that’s a wedding breakfast or an evening party. Wedding cakes are generally spectacular, tiered desserts whether they are ‘naked’ cake covered in fresh seasonal flowers or heavily iced confections with special cake toppers. Wedding cakes generally highlight the theme of the wedding, picking out wedding colours and reflecting the bride and groom’s chosen concept whether that’s a beach vibe, a rich autumnal palette or a cosy barn wedding. The cake flavour and design can be a major feature of the day, and there are wedding cake specialists who can make anything from your pet’s portrait through to an Alice in Wonderland themed cake or even a ‘wedding cake’ made entirely of cheeses!

Given that there’s so many choices, it’s no surprise that wedding cakes have become such a wedding feature – cake tasting sessions are a significant part of wedding planning for many couples and can be the beginning of the real countdown to the big day.
