Rare Thing
Rare Thing is an independent jewellery studio in the heart of Brighton, specialising in soulful, handcrafted pieces for modern lovers. We create wedding and engagement rings that celebrate individuality, crafted with intention and steeped in meaning.
Our work draws inspiration from ancient techniques and timeless design—perfect for couples who want something truly personal, not mass-produced. Every piece is made by Nattie, in-house with care, using ethical materials and a slow, considered approach. We offer a warm, inclusive space where creativity is welcome and stories matter.
Whether you’re after a custom design or something ready to wear, we’ll help you find—or create—a piece that feels like you. Appointments are relaxed and pressure-free; it’s about connection, not hard sell. Rare Thing is about jewellery that captures your story, crafted with care.
WEDDING RING WORKSHOPS
If you’re after something hands-on, personal, and a bit different, our wedding ring workshops let you make your own rings from scratch. You’ll work one-on-one with Nattie in her studio in Brighton. No previous experience needed.
The process is straightforward: we guide you through each stage – measuring, shaping, soldering, and finishing – so you leave with professional-quality rings that you’ve made yourselves. Workshops are usually 4 hours and everything is done in-house, with proper tools and expert support. You’ll learn the techniques as you go, and we’ll make sure the fit, finish, and final polish are spot on.
We work with recycled gold and platinum, and can help you choose the right metal for your design ahead of time. If you want to bring your own gold – maybe something sentimental or inherited – we can often work that in too.
The studio is private and bookings are just for the two of you, so the day is quiet, focused, and relaxed. It’s a practical, creative way to make something meaningful without the usual showroom experience. There’s time to talk through ideas, take breaks when needed, and ask all the questions you like.
We also offer engraving, photo documentation of the making process, and can add in small custom touches if requested. All materials, tools, and safety gear are provided, and refreshments are on hand throughout the day.
Couples come away with rings they’ve made with their own hands – a simple but powerful thing. It’s not about perfection; it’s about the process, and knowing exactly where your rings came from and how they were made. They’re personal from the start.
Workshops are suitable for all couples. You don’t need to be creative or crafty – you just need to be up for giving it a go. We’ll do the technical bits that need a pro touch (like stone setting, if you’re adding gems), but the rings themselves are genuinely made by you.
