Wedding morning checklist

Every couple wants the wedding of their dreams – and the way you start your special day is likely to decide how you end it, so here’s our wedding morning checklist for bride and groom and their besties:

Bride

  • Eat breakfast and stay hydrated
  • Hand a timeline to one of your bridesmaids and give her the power to ensure you all stay on track
  • Make sure you’re not wearing any socks, bras, jewellery etc that might leave marks on your skin
  • Pop on an old shirt or dressing gown so your hair and make-up stay perfect when you put on your dress
  • Check any payments that you need to make on the day and ensure you have your card or cash handy
  • Give your phone to your Maid of Honour – they can field calls so you’re fully present on your special day
  • Set a time to give out any wedding party gifts and make sure somebody reminds you
  • Put your life-savers in your wedding bag: lipstick, perfume, mints, tissues and headache pills if you’re prone to migraine!
  • Double check your vows are in a safe place
  • Breathe, put on a romantic playlist and enjoy getting ready!

Groom

  • Eat breakfast and stay hydrated
  • Double check you have your cufflinks, aftershave, watch etc.
  • Give your groomsman’s party any gifts you’ve got ready for them
  • Pack up essentials: breath spray, tissues, deodorant and give them to your best man
  • Check your vows are in your suit pocket. Be on the safe side and take a picture on your phone!
  • Have cash for tips, or make sure your best man is ready to tip on your behalf
  • Make time to kick back and laugh with your groomsmen, and take a few candid shots of your morning to add to the wedding album
  • Get to the venue with time to spare

Bridesmaids

  • Check your shoes, dress and accessories are spick and span and on hand
  • If you’re Matron of Honour, make sure you have a party kit: plasters for blistered feet; needle and thread; wet wipes; spritzer spray for tired make-up; painkillers etc.
  • Remember you’ve got tasks, so check on the flowers, wedding vows, flower boys and girls etc as well as having a great time with the bride
  • Limit yourself to one alcoholic drink – or better yet, save it for after the ceremony
  • Keep snacks and soft drinks on hand for the bride
  • Be ready to carry any messages between bride and groom

Best man

  • Check your outfit and the groom’s: clean, ironed, ready to go? Then you can relax!
  • Keep the groom on schedule without losing his cool
  • Take care of any last minute tasks like distributing buttonholes
  • Keep an eye on the rest of the groomsmen – a relaxing drink is great but don’t let it get out of hand
  • Be there for the groom, he may need all kinds of support and it’s your job to provide it.

Keeping it simple is important on such a special day, so remember it’s a celebration and enjoy every minute!
